An exceptionally fine Spanish Neoclassical sterling silver inkstand (standish), circa 1800, comprising an oval fitted tray supported on four stylized inverted baluster feet with beaded and braided ribbon rim borders, housing three original cylindrical vessels. The central container features an openwork filigree top designed as a nib-cleaner and sponge pot, flanked by two matching lidded pots with pierced openings serving as an inkwell and a pounce pot (sander) for drying ink, all engineered to rest securely within recessed wells on the mirror-polished tray base. Exhibiting outstanding craftsmanship, period symmetry, and immaculate surface preservation, this rare surviving late 18th to early 19th-century desk set represents a superb example of Spanish silversmithing from the Neoclassical era, perfect for the discerning collector of antique silver and historic writing instruments.
