Description

An exceptional and rare pair of George V sterling silver Torah finials (Rimonim), masterfully crafted by the renowned London silversmith Simon Zimmerman.  This magnificent pair exemplifies early 20th-century Anglo-Jewish ceremonial silver art, boasting a two-tiered baluster-form body intricately decorated with repoussé floral blossoms and foliate chasing. Each section suspends delicate silver bells on original double-loop attachments that chime softly when the Torah scroll is processed. The finials are crowned with an elegant openwork royal canopy dome, topped by a prominent Star of David (Magen David) finial. The tubular mounting shafts feature clean, tapered lines, hallmarked with full London silver marks for 1924 alongside Simon Zimmerman’s maker’s mark, “SZ”. The shaft of one rimon displays a period-engraved Hebrew and English presentation inscription reading “…TO THE…”, commemorating its dedication to a synagogue congregation. Preserved in remarkable antique condition, this set offers a compelling addition for collectors of fine Judaica and historic British silver.
