A very elegant and rare late 18th century oval flat bottomed cheese dish with applied reed border for highlights.

Description

A very elegant and rare late 18th century oval flat bottomed cheese dish with applied reed border for highlights.  The lid of the dish is hinged and has an upper oval dome for decoration which is crowned with sweet urn style finial.  The handle has a silver circular sleeve in which sits a spun fruit wood handle for insulation.
