Description
This striking pair of Victorian silver candlesticks combines classical architectural restraint with the ornate, layered detailing characteristic of high quality late 19th- century silversmithing. Corinthian and classicial designs centers around a deeply fluted columnar shaft. This draws inspiration from classical Greco-Roman architecture and gives the sticks an elegant, vertical presence. The stepped octagonal bases with beautiful outer gadrooned and bead galleries add additional eye-catching visual decorative highlights. The aesthetic scrollwork to the lower section of the column which transitions via the base is another eye-catching thought. All in all a truly beautiful presentation from the highly renowned Charles Stuart Harris establishment.
